What services do we provide?

We provide passive fire protection surveys, risk assessments, and on-site fire safety training.

Green Emergency Exit sign : Fire Risk AssessmentsWe don’t provide active fire protection, i.e., anything that’s needed after a fire event has taken place. Think sprinklers, extinguishers, alarms, and emergency lights.

In simple terms, we look at how we can mitigate or remove risk to prevent a fire from happening in the first place.

Below is a complete list of our services:

  • Fire risk assessments
  • Fire door surveys
  • Fire strategies
  • Compartmentation surveys
  • Fire stopping surveys
  • Fire marshal/extinguisher/safety training
  • Fire safety consultancy

If you think about an estate agent, you have a sales team and a lettings team. Both perform the same role in that they help people find places to live, but they go about achieving this goal in very different ways.

It’s the same in our industry. Whereas we and active fire protection providers have the same goal — to keep people safe — our services are more geared towards containing a fire and preventing it from spreading, or installing measures to prevent a fire from starting in the first place.

If you’re looking for active fire protection, we have a network of people who can assist with this. Feel free to reach out to us on 0151 665 0124 or at info@nwfiresolutions.co.uk.

What results do we get for clients?

We keep you within the boundaries of the law. That’s the most important result we get for you.

A fire risk assessment is a legally required review of your premises to assess its potential fire risks and keep you compliant with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Failure to comply with this order can result in unlimited fines and even a prison sentence if a fire takes place at your premises. Our services help you avoid these unthinkable potential scenarios.

Then, of course, there’s the equally important outcome of ensuring your occupants’ safety.

The Grenfell Tower disaster is the most prominent example in recent times of how quickly a fire can spread and the catastrophic impact this can have. The Grenfell Tower Inquiry found that the tower’s inadequate fire protection systems was a central reason for the spread of the fire.

This example highlights why fire risk assessments are so important. Our fire risk assessments will consider the effectiveness of your building’s fire protection systems, and we’ll include recommendations on how to improve its fire safety.

This has the double benefit of not only keeping your occupants safe but also keeping your premises safe and ensuring business continuity from your perspective.

If a building you own sustains major fire damage, that might stop your business. You might go bust. You might be safe personally, but your business might be gone.

If you own that building, it’s an asset, and we recognise the importance of keeping it intact or, at the very least, not losing it.

Who is an ‘ideal’ North West Fire Solutions client?

An individual who is responsible for the fire safety management of a portfolio of premises. For example, property managers, private landlords, and business owners.

We’re ideally looking to speak with people who fall into these categories and manage any of the following premises:

  • Blocks of flats and apartments
  • HMOs
  • Hotels and serviced accommodation (i.e., Airbnbs) — any size
  • Business premises — any size, any type
  • Residential care homes
  • Schools
  • Leisure centres
  • Places of worship
  • Factories and warehouses

If you’re responsible for any space inside any of these types of premises — even if it’s just a small area like an office in a shared office block — you’ll need at least one of our services.

What types of clients does North West Fire Solutions not work with?

Clients who are inherently price-conscious and don’t understand the true value of high-quality passive fire protection services.

The cheapest fire risk assessment provider often isn’t the most professional, diligent, or experienced, and can miss important details that prove significant further down the line.

That’s why we don’t sell ourselves based on price, as we don’t want to be associated with a lack of due diligence or professionalism.

We also don’t work with people who don’t fully understand or appreciate the importance of fire safety and are just ticking boxes.

What challenges can we help you overcome?

We help anyone who feels overwhelmed by a lack of clarity and consistency when it comes to fire safety.

For example, if you’ve worked with a fire safety provider previously and been left disappointed by the quality of service provided, the information given, and the cost, we understand how you feel.

We can also empathise with you if you’re overwhelmed by the workload required to ensure fire safety at your premises.

For many of you reading this article, fire safety could be just one small part of the wider scope of your job. If you’re a property manager, for example, you probably have enough on your plate without allocating additional time to tasks such as assessing your building’s fire safety.

Having a specialist consultant look after this on your behalf and deal with fire safety quickly and efficiently makes your life much easier.

We provide a customer portal so our clients can manage the data that we create, making it as easy as possible for you to understand our findings.

What are the benefits of using a company like North West Fire Solutions?

Unlike other fire safety management consultants, we’re not fazed by volume. This is a massive benefit if you’re someone who has an extensive property portfolio.

If you find yourself in a sticky situation with regard to ensuring fire safety and need support, our team of highly trained, qualified assessors is on hand to help you.

We want to build long-term relationships with people and give them the peace of mind that we’re here for them, whatever their fire safety requirements.

We’ve found that a lot of property management companies carry out a procurement exercise every time they need a fire risk assessment. Even though they may have a preferred supplier that they always go to, they tend to check out the market first and try to get the cheapest option. They’re not thinking big enough.

They likely go down this route because they’re not dealing with people who can handle a high volume of requests for fire risk assessments.

That’s where we’re different. We look for clients with big property portfolios because we want that volume and can handle that volume.

What advice do we give when it comes to fire safety?

We always direct people back to The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 if they have questions around fire safety.

That’s the only resource that you have to follow. Pretty much anything else you see online is simply guidance and often isn’t accurate.

We also take a pragmatic approach to recommending specific services.

For instance, we’ve been approached by clients whose previous fire safety consultants have recommended they get a fire compartmentation survey for their building.

A fire compartmentation survey costs several thousand pounds, so you have to be sure that you need something like this, otherwise you’re wasting money unnecessarily. The last thing we want to do is rip off a customer by charging them for something they don’t need.

As an example, we worked with a client who’d received a report from another provider. In one paragraph, the report said the compartmentation was fine, and in another, it said they needed a compartmentation survey.

Not only does this kind of contradictory language cause people to pay for something they don’t necessarily need, but it can also, understandably, be confusing for people, especially those who don’t have a background in fire safety.

When we provide fire compartmentation surveys, we don’t just send the client a report and leave them to dissect it. We’re on hand to provide any support they need and ensure they understand our findings and recommendations.
